Palmer Middle School announced on April 17 that students in grades six through eight will participate in the Georgia Milestones Assessment System End of Grade assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics, with additional Science and Social Studies assessments for eighth graders. Students enrolled in Algebra will also take the Algebra End of Course assessment.
These assessments are designed to measure how well students have mastered state-adopted content standards. Teachers and students at Palmer Middle School have been preparing throughout the year to ensure readiness for these tests. The school provided a detailed schedule outlining testing dates by grade level, including specific days for each subject area. Students who are absent on their scheduled test days will be required to make up missed tests.
The school emphasized that cell phones, smart watches, smart glasses, earbuds or headphones, and other electronic devices are not allowed in the testing environment. All electronics must be stored in student lockers or left at home during test days. Students will use their Cobb County School District laptops to complete the Georgia Milestones EOG/EOC assessments and are expected to leave both laptop and charger at school during designated periods leading up to their tests.
Parents were reminded of the importance of encouraging their children to do their best on each section of the test and ensuring prompt arrival at school on scheduled test days. Test scores will be available on CTLS Parent as soon as they are received by the school administration. For questions regarding testing procedures or logistics, parents can contact Mrs. Crook via email.
Palmer Middle School contributes to student development in a supportive environment with a focus on educational achievement; it operates as part of the Cobb County School District and enrolls about 800 students according to its official website. The school has earned recognition as an AVID National Demonstration School—the only one in Georgia—and is noted for its high standards in college and career readiness while seeking to empower students for future success according to its official website.
