Protecting American Consumers Together praised an op-ed by Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King that credited lawsuit reforms with driving insurance rate reductions.

The organization posted on X about the benefits of the reforms one year after their passage, pointing to King’s opinion piece in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that outlined concrete savings from multiple insurance rate reductions. These reforms, SB 68 and SB 69, were enacted by Gov. Brian Kemp in April 2025 and aimed to address lawsuit abuse and improve Georgia’s legal climate.

According to PACT, State Farm customers received over $400 million in savings, with the average family seeing about $190 per insured vehicle. Allstate filed a 5% reduction impacting tens of thousands of drivers and generating an estimated $17.7 million in savings. Travelers received approval for a 10% rate decrease, resulting in more than $40 million in savings for Georgia families.

The group says these reforms have allowed Georgia to shed its previous label as a “judicial hellhole”—a term coined by a legal reform advocacy group. PACT also said additional rate filings, including decreases from Liberty Mutual and Safeco, are helping stabilize the insurance market and lower costs for consumers and businesses amid broader efforts to curb litigation expenses that the organization says previously drove up premiums.

Protecting American Consumers Together is a national 501(c)(4) advocacy and educational organization focused on legal system reforms. According to the group’s website, it works to expose what it calls predatory legal practices and advocates for changes to ensure fairness and transparency in the justice system.
