Georgia Quick Start hosted a training plan signing on May 27 at Gwinnett Technical College to commemorate its partnership with Socomec and Gwinnett Technical College. The event marked the launch of a customized training program for nearly 300 new hires at Socomec’s upcoming advanced manufacturing facility in Suwanee.
Bruce Batton, Executive Director of Georgia Quick Start Northern Operations, met with leaders from Socomec at the college to formalize the agreement. Socomec, a French company specializing in industrial power management, announced plans last year to build a $10 million advanced manufacturing site in Suwanee. Following the signing, Quick Start will deliver tailored training materials designed to meet the company’s operational needs.
“With this training plan signing, we get together with the company and celebrate small steps in the project,” said Bruce Batton. “The overall goal is for them to be successful and hire qualified people who understand the processes and can come into the workplace without delay. That is what Quick Start really focuses on, and with Socomec, we were able to develop simulator trainers, which was a big achievement.”
Paolo Previtali, Director of Operations for Power Conversion North America at Socomec, said: “The successful sign-off of our training program marks an important milestone in our people and operations strategy. In partnership with Quick Start and Gwinnett Technical College, we have developed and started to deliver a high-impact training initiative that strengthens our workforce capabilities and supports our long-term ambitions. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to excellence, continuous learning, and performance.”
Gwinnett Tech President Dr. Glen Cannon said: “Gwinnett Tech is proud to partner with Georgia Quick Start to provide this valuable employee training to team members of Socomec. Quick Start and technical college training have long been among the most important tools to assist great companies looking to move to Georgia and to support our current companies so they remain in Georgia. By collaborating on workforce training, we are ensuring Socomec employees gain the skills they need to thrive in an advanced manufacturing environment. Together, we’re building a stronger talent pipeline that supports industry growth and strengthens the Gwinnett Tech community.”
Gwinnett Technical College will serve as a long-term partner for ongoing employee development at Socomec’s facility by providing continued education opportunities as well as qualified graduates.
