State Representative Arlene Beckles (D-Norcross) has announced her participation in Cybersecurity Awareness Month this October. She joins a national initiative led by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to promote awareness about cybersecurity and encourage safe digital practices.
“As more of our daily lives—from banking and healthcare to education and small business—depend on technology, we must take steps to protect ourselves online,” said Rep. Beckles. “Cybersecurity is not just about safeguarding data—it’s about protecting families, communities and the essential services we all rely on.”
Rep. Beckles noted that the month-long observance highlights simple actions individuals can take to defend against cyber threats. These measures help protect critical infrastructure such as power, water, healthcare, and communications systems.
She urged residents, businesses, and community groups to stay updated on best practices for cybersecurity, involve others in discussions about digital safety, and use October as an opportunity to update passwords, secure devices, and enhance online protections.
“As your state representative, I am committed to advancing policies that strengthen our digital security and equipping our communities with resources to stay safe,” Rep. Beckles added.
