State Representative Bill Fincher (R-Canton) has been appointed to serve on three Georgia House committees for the remainder of the 2025-2026 legislative term. The appointment was made by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington). Fincher will serve on the Judiciary Juvenile, Judiciary Non-Civil, and Transportation committees.
In a statement, Rep. Fincher said, “I am grateful to Speaker Burns for the opportunity to serve on these impactful committees for the remainder of the 2026 legislative session. As a former district attorney, I look forward to helping support the work of these crucial committees, particularly in protecting public safety and upholding the law. I’m honored by the trust placed in me by the voters of House District 23, and I remain committed to ensuring the voices of residents of Cherokee County are heard at the Capitol this session and beyond.”
Fincher took office on January 10, 2026, after winning a special election to fill the seat left vacant by Mandi Ballinger (R-Canton), who died in October 2025.
Jon Burns, who appointed Fincher to his new committee roles, has served as a Republican representative since being elected in 2005 for Georgia’s 159th House District.
