State Representative Bryce Berry (D-Atlanta) and the organization Swipe Out Hunger will host a press conference focused on college affordability at the Georgia State Capitol on February 11, 2026. The event is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on the first floor of the Capitol building.
The press conference aims to gather students from across Georgia to speak directly with lawmakers about policies that could make college life more affordable. Participants are expected to advocate for expanding need-based financial aid and extending HOPE scholarship benefits to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Rep. Berry has been active in introducing legislation related to student support. During the 2025 legislative session, he introduced House Bill 716, known as the Hunger Free Campus Act, which proposes creating a need-based financial aid program offering grants to eligible students facing food insecurity. He also recently introduced House Bill 1052, which would allow the Georgia Student Finance Commission to create a grant program assisting students with off-campus living expenses.
