State Representative Doreen Carter will host Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper for a community conversation focused on the state’s agricultural sector. The event, titled “Rooted in Georgia: Growing the Future of Agriculture,” is scheduled for Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Global Growers Network in Conyers.

According to Rep. Carter, “Georgia’s agricultural industry touches every part of our lives—from the food on our tables to the strength of our economy. This conversation is about ensuring our policies, partnerships and investments continue to support farmers, create jobs and grow opportunity right here in House District 93.”

The event aims to bring together state leaders, local growers, community partners and residents to discuss ways to strengthen Georgia’s agricultural sector and expand opportunities at the local level.

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper stated, “Agriculture is the backbone of Georgia’s economy, but even more than that, it is a way of life for millions of rural Georgians, and it is the bridge that connects urban and rural Georgia together. At GDA, we are committed to supporting all Georgia farmers regardless of where they grow, what they grow or how they grow it, and I look forward to working with leaders in the General Assembly and in communities across the state to ensure we have policies in place at the state level that will allow the continued success of our state’s #1 industry.”

Commissioner Harper will address topics such as statewide agricultural priorities, farmer support programs, workforce development initiatives and sustainability efforts. The discussion will also highlight organizations like Global Growers Network for their role in supporting local and immigrant farmers.

The event will feature remarks from both officials followed by a guided discussion and an interactive question-and-answer session with attendees. It is free and open to members of the public including community members, farmers and small business owners.

Burns has served as a Republican representative for Georgia’s 159th House District since his election in 2005.
