Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office reports homicide at Heritage Crossing

The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office announced on May 5 that deputies responded to a shooting at Heritage Crossing on April 18, where a woman was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities said the incident is believed to be domestic in nature based on previous incidents at the same location. The victim was identified as Annette Lashley-Lewis, age 62.

A person of interest, Demetrius Whitlock, age 63, has been charged in connection with the case. He faces charges including felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, and receipt, possession, or transfer of a firearm by a convicted felon or felony first offender.

Christine Nesbitt of the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office said in the release that “the investigation is still active and ongoing, and no further information is available at this time.”

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate and has not released additional details.
