Ruby Hotels, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ premium portfolio, announced on June 1 that it will introduce its brand to New York City with the soon-to-convert Ruby New York City hotel. This marks the second U.S. signing for Ruby Hotels in a few months, following a forthcoming Chicago location, both projected to open in 2027.
The Ruby New York City hotel will feature a 24/7 lobby bar designed as the social hub for guests and locals. The property will offer 187 rooms equipped with signature beds, rainfall showers, and premium finishes. Located along Manhattan’s Avenue of the Americas, the hotel is near landmarks such as Herald Square, the Empire State Building, and Madison Square Garden. A renovation beginning later this year will transform an 18-story historic building from the 1930s into what is intended to be a flagship for the Ruby brand.
Jolyon Bulley, CEO for IHG Americas, said, “Ruby’s arrival in New York City reflects our momentum in bringing the brand’s distinctive experience and flexible model to major U.S. urban markets. With two properties now planned in iconic, gateway cities, we’re just beginning to unlock Ruby’s growth potential. We also look forward to building on our longstanding relationship with the team at AC Developers to make New York’s first Ruby a must-stay destination.”
The property will be owned by local developer AC Developers and operated by Aimbridge Hospitality. Andrew Weiss, co-founder of AC Developers, said, “New York City is the ideal home for Ruby Hotels, a brand that balances an inviting and memorable lifestyle experience while appealing to cost- and style-conscious travelers. We welcome the opportunity to bring the first Ruby hotel to New York in collaboration with IHG.”
Founded in Germany in 2013, Ruby Hotels operates or has planned about 40 properties globally as of early 2026—mainly across Europe’s largest cities—and aims for more than 120 hotels worldwide within ten years and over 250 within twenty years.
IHG has recently expanded its presence in New York through other brands as well; Kimpton opened two new properties—Kimpton Era Midtown – New York and Kimpton Ashbel New York – Park Avenue—and voco hotels opened its largest Americas location yet in Times Square.
