The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced a new safety improvement project for Old Cornelia Highway in Hall County. The project, known as PI #0019961, will involve the installation of rumble strips and enhancements to pavement markings along a 7.59-mile section from State Route 52 to East Main Street.

TRP Construction Group, LLC has been awarded the contract valued at $125,419.00. The company is recognized for its expertise in roadway safety. Construction is expected to begin soon with a completion target set for April 30, 2026, depending on weather conditions.

The planned improvements aim to reduce roadway departure crashes by installing rumble strips at strategic locations and upgrading pavement markings to enhance visibility and driver awareness.

A GDOT District 1 spokesperson stated, “Projects like this represent our ongoing commitment to improving roadway safety for drivers across Northeast Georgia. With over seven miles of enhancements on a heavily traveled corridor, we’re taking meaningful steps to reduce crash risks and keep communities connected safely.”

Motorists are advised to remain vigilant for construction activities, adhere to posted signage, and lower speeds in work zones.
