Today, State Representative Carl Gilliard announced the passage of House Bill 762, aimed at establishing the Savannah Music Commission. This bill recently progressed through the Georgia State Senate’s Local Consent Calendar and now awaits the governor’s decision. The proposed commission is expected to support and elevate Savannah’s music community, bolstering the local entertainment and music sectors.

Representative Gilliard expressed satisfaction regarding the bill’s progress: “I am deeply grateful to see House Bill 762 successfully pass and make its way to the governor’s desk for signature,” he remarked. Emphasizing Savannah’s musical significance, he added, “Savannah’s music scene is integral to the city’s rich history and culture.” He thanked legislative colleagues for their support, noting the commission’s potential benefits for Georgia’s musical landscape.

House Bill 762 focuses on enhancing Savannah’s music industry. The commission would be responsible for promoting events, supporting musicians, and fostering artistic collaboration throughout the community. By doing so, the initiative hopes to celebrate the city’s musical heritage and attract new talent and events to Savannah.

The bill now awaits the governor’s approval.
