The University of Georgia School of Law hosted legal officials and academics from Brazil at the State Bar of Georgia headquarters in Atlanta as part of an international exchange focused on alternate dispute resolution, according to a June 1 announcement. The visit was coordinated by Clinical Assistant Professor Rob McNiff and included meetings with alternate dispute resolution coordinators and judges in Gwinnett County.
This initiative is part of a partnership between the School of Law and the University of Rio de Janeiro. Former School of Law student Alexandre Jorge Fontes Laranjeira (LL.M.’23) also participated in the program. The exchange aimed to promote education and collaboration in alternate dispute resolution practices between U.S. and Brazilian legal professionals.
The University of Georgia School of Law has been recognized for its advocacy competitions, experiential learning opportunities through 18 clinics and externships, high graduate employment rates, extensive law library resources, national ranking at No. 22 by U.S. News & World Report, value recognition by National Jurist, support for a diverse student body with strong academic profiles, and commitment to redefining excellence in public legal education through teaching and community service, according to the official website.
The recent visit underscores ongoing efforts by both institutions to foster international dialogue on best practices within the field.
