Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced on April 13 that the Savvy Senior live event will take place at The Forum-Riverwalk Ballroom in Rome, Georgia, on May 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is organized by the Secretary of State’s office in partnership with Interim Healthcare of Northwest Georgia and Senior Medicare Patrol.

The purpose of the Savvy Senior event is to provide seniors, families, and caregivers with information about retirement planning and fraud prevention. According to the announcement, participants will receive expert insights and practical tips aimed at strengthening their financial security. Registration for the event is free for all Georgians and includes a complimentary continental breakfast.

“Financial security and fraud prevention are essential for protecting the hard-earned savings of Georgia’s seniors,” said Secretary Raffensperger. “Through our Savvy Senior program, we are dedicated to providing individuals, families, and caregivers with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions, protect their assets, and plan confidently for the future.”

The program will feature two panel discussions moderated by Donna Lowry. The first panel on “Financial Wellness” will include Kristin M. Pugh, Private Wealth Manager/Partner; and Fredrick Stanfield, Founder of Lifewater Wealth Management. The second panel on “Fraud Awareness” will feature Nathan Coflin from Senior Medicare Patrol; Shawn Conroy from the Office of Attorney General Chris Carr; Shawn Horace from the Office of Commissioner John F. King; and Noula Zaharis from the Securities & Charities Division at the Secretary of State’s Office.

Savvy Senior is part of a broader financial literacy initiative led by Secretary Raffensperger through his office’s Securities and Charities divisions. These seminars aim to increase attendees’ understanding of money management issues as well as strategies for growing personal wealth.

The Secretary of State’s office encourages all Georgians interested in financial education or seeking resources related to money management to attend these workshops.
