Sen. Chuck Hufstetler has been named the 2025 Legislator of the Year by Georgia Life Sciences (GLS). The award will be presented during the Georgia Life Sciences Summit on August 26 at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.
“I am honored to be recognized by Georgia Life Sciences this year. Whether in the operating room or chairing the Senate Committee on Finance, I see firsthand how science impacts Georgians daily,” said Sen. Hufstetler. “Each legislative session, I lean on my experience as a legislator and medical professional to advocate for Georgians and promote our life sciences community. Today, more than ever, this community is a driving force for better health outcomes, which build a stronger economy and way of life for future generations.”
The Legislator of the Year Award from GLS is given annually to a lawmaker who supports policies that encourage research, investment, and innovation in life sciences at both state and federal levels.
Sen. Hufstetler’s background includes several academic achievements related to science. He holds a Baking Science and Technology certification from the American Institute of Baking, bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Psychology from the University of Georgia, and a master’s degree in Medical Science in Anesthesiology from Emory School of Medicine.

Sen. Hufstetler is Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance and represents District 52, covering parts of Bartow, Floyd, and Gordon counties.
