The Senate Study Committee on Improving Family Caregiver Services will hold its first hearing on August 27, 2025, at Augusta University’s Summerville Campus. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Jaguar Student Activities Center and will be open to the public. The event will also be live-streamed on the Georgia General Assembly website.
The committee, chaired by Minority Leader Sen. Harold Jones II (D–Augusta), was created under SR 393 to address issues related to Georgia’s increasing senior population. Its purpose is to explore policy goals and possible legislative actions aimed at supporting more than one million family caregivers in the state who provide over one billion hours of care each year.
Media representatives are asked to confirm their attendance by contacting Zach Pishock at SenatePressInquiries@senate.ga.gov.
