The Senate Study Committee on Additional Services and Resources for Transition Age Youth in Foster Care will hold its second meeting on September 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. The hearing will take place at the Coverdell Legislative Office Building in Atlanta and is open to the public. The event will also be live-streamed on the Georgia General Assembly website.

Sen. Kay Kirkpatrick (R–Marietta), who chairs the committee, will lead the session. The committee was established through Senate Resolution 310 to examine what services and resources are currently available for transition-age youth in Georgia’s foster care system. Its goal is to identify urgent needs among this group and consider ways to implement additional support to help these youths succeed as they move into adulthood.

“This bipartisan committee will continue exploring additional services and resources for transition-age youth, identify the most urgent needs, and decide how best to implement them to ensure youth success into adulthood,” according to the meeting announcement.

Members of the media planning to attend are asked to confirm their attendance by contacting Zach Pishock at SenatePressInquiries@senate.ga.gov.

Sen. Kay Kirkpatrick serves as Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Children and Families and represents Georgia’s 32nd Senate District, which includes parts of Cobb and Cherokee counties. She can be reached by phone at (404) 656-3932 or by email at kay.kirkpatrick@senate.ga.gov.
