The Senate Study Committee on Recovery Residences will hold its first hearing on August 18, 2025, at the Coverdell Legislative Office Building in Atlanta. The committee is chaired by Sen. Randy Robertson (R–Cataula), who also serves as Majority Whip of the Senate Majority Caucus and represents Senate District 29.
According to information from the Georgia State Senate, this bipartisan committee was established through Senate Resolution 311. Its purpose is to review the current state of recovery residences in Georgia and consider their needs and challenges. The committee will listen to input from residents, policy experts, and representatives from both state agencies and private organizations as it looks for ways to improve safety standards and service quality.
“The Senate Study Committee on Recovery Residences…will examine the current conditions, needs and challenges related to recovery residences in Georgia. This bipartisan committee will hear from residents, policy experts and representatives from state agencies and private organizations to explore ways to improve safety and enhance the quality of services these residences provide,” according to a statement about the meeting.

Sen. Robertson’s district includes Harris, Meriwether, Troup Counties, and part of Muscogee County.
