Senator Larry Walker III (R–Perry) has been recognized as the 2025 recipient of the Georgia 4-H Green Jacket Award. The award, presented each year at State 4-H Congress, is considered one of the highest honors from Georgia 4-H and highlights individuals who have shown ongoing commitment to the organization’s mission.
Walker’s involvement with Georgia 4-H includes serving as Senate host for Georgia 4-H Day at the Capitol for five years. This role has helped expand opportunities for young participants to meet elected officials and learn about civic engagement. In 2022, he also led the State 4-H Council’s Citizenship Ceremony, administering an oath to new voters.
In his legislative work, Walker was instrumental in securing $3 million in funding in the Fiscal Year 2023 amended budget for cabin replacements at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. The investment aims to benefit future generations of program participants. He has also supported initiatives related to agricultural education, including backing projects at the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and supporting the UGA Grand Farm initiative.
“Georgia 4-H is one of the most impactful youth programs in our state, and I’m truly humbled to receive this recognition,” said Sen. Walker. “I believe in investing in our young people, especially in ways that connect them to public service, agriculture, and leadership opportunities. I’ll continue to proudly support 4-H and all it stands for.”
Walker is a native of Perry and a graduate of the University of Georgia. He resides in Kathleen with his wife Adrienne and their three sons.
He currently serves as Secretary of the Majority Caucus and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Insurance and Labor, representing District 20 which covers several counties including Bleckley, Dodge, Dooly, Laurens, Treutlen, Pulaski, Wilcox, and parts of Houston County.
