Spivey Splash Water Park in Jonesboro, Georgia, will remain closed today due to inclement weather conditions, according to a May 23 announcement from Clayton County officials. The park’s reopening is planned for Sunday, May 24, from noon to 7 p.m., if weather permits.

The closure is intended to prioritize the safety of residents, visitors, and staff. Updates about the reopening will be provided through official county communication channels such as the county website and social media.

“We appreciate all of our patrons who have planned to visit as well as our staff who worked diligently to ensure we are ready for opening day,” said Parks and Recreation Director Nicole Horne. “We anticipate a busy and fun season. However safety is priority.”

For those planning summer activities or seeking further information about park events and schedules, details are available at www.spiveysplash.com.

Clayton County schools enrolled a total of 61,644 students in the 2022-23 school year; enrollment dropped by 2.5% compared to the previous year. Black students made up the largest ethnic group at 68%, followed by Hispanic students at 24%, multiracial students at 3%, and white students at 2%, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

The temporary closure highlights how local operations may be affected by severe weather but also demonstrates ongoing efforts by Clayton County officials to keep community members informed.
