Lane closures are scheduled for State Route 20 and the northbound ramp overnight on June 5-6. This is due to paving work for a road-widening project. Traffic will be shifted from 9 pm to 6 am, and the northbound ramp will be closed during this time.
Drivers are advised to find alternate routes and expect delays. The Georgia Department of Transportation advises motorists to “expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones.” For real-time updates on traffic conditions, drivers can call 511, visit 511ga.org, or use the Georgia 511 app.
The Georgia Department of Transportation oversees the planning, construction, and maintenance of state and federal highways in Georgia. The department also supports bridge, waterway, public transit, rail, general aviation, bike, and pedestrian programs. It assists local governments with road maintenance as well. With nearly 4,000 employees, Georgia DOT aims to deliver a transportation system focused on innovation, safety, sustainability, and mobility. Their vision is “to boost Georgia’s competitiveness through leadership in transportation.”
