Georgia first lady Marty Kemp will host the fourth Pet Adoption Day and Georgia Grown Festival at the Governor's Mansion to help find permanent homes for needy animals.

The first lady worked with humane societies, animal shelters and pet rescuers across the state to schedule the event on Oct. 24 from 2 - 5 p.m. at the Governor’s Mansion, according to a press release.

"We are thrilled to once again host Pet Adoption Day at the Georgia Governor’s Mansion," Kemp said, according to the press release. "As first lady, I’ve worked to promote causes that my family and I care deeply about, and nothing makes us happier than connecting in-need animals with their forever homes. If you're looking for a special addition to your family, please consider joining us on Sunday, Oct. 24."

The first three Pet Adoption Days were able to connect 100 dogs, two cats and one hamster with families, the release said.

Visitors interested in attending the event will need to pre-register to attend. Applications are open for both guests and adoption groups.
