University of Georgia star pitcher Jonathan Cannon has been pegged as a preseason all-American by Baseball America and D1Baseball.
Cannon, a 6-foot-6-inch, 213-pound senior, was selected for the third team by both publications, the Georgia Bulldogs said in a press release.
"The honors keep rolling in! @JonathanCannon_ picks up a pair of preseason All-American honors," the Bulldogs said in a tweet on Jan. 3.
In 2021, Cannon posted a 3.93 ERA in 12 starts, finishing the year at 4-2 with 57 strikeouts and 13 walks over 63.1 innings pitched, the Bulldogs reported.
During the season, Cannon contributed to the Bulldogs' wins against No. 1 ranked Vanderbilt Commodores and the No. 7 Florida Gators, as well as the No. 11 University of Mississippi Rebels, the Bulldogs reported.
Cannon is the first player from the University of Georgia to be honored by Baseball America since Ryan Webb was named to the preseason all-American first team in 2021.
