Former Georgia basketball star Charles Mann is returning to the school to serve as the Bulldogs' director of recruiting.

In a recent release by the Georgia Bulldogs, head coach Mike White said that he is excited to welcome Mann home and is confident that he will make a major impact within the program. 

"Charles knows what it takes to be a successful student-athlete at this level," White said. "He is extremely proud to be a Georgia Bulldog and, in many ways, has lived the experience we want for all of our players.”

Mann returns to Athens after spending the previous three seasons at Army and Virginia Commonwealth. Prior to that he served two seasons at VCU as a graduate assistant. 

“It's a surreal feeling that still seems like a dream to me," Mann said in the release. "Coming back home means more than anything. It's not just the next job for me – it's my dream job. Putting that 'G' across my chest is a blessing because without ‘The University of Georgia’ there is no Charles Mann.”

Before turning to the front office, Mann played professionally overseas and was drafted in the second round of the NBA G-League Draft by the Oklahoma City Blue.

While playing at Georgia, Mann started 106 of his 132 games, including 98 of 100 outings over his final three seasons, during which the Bulldogs reached the 20-win plateau in each of those seasons, the release states. Mann currently owns the Bulldogs' career records for free throws made (618) and attempted (896) and was reportedly one of the most prolific players ever in the SEC at getting to the line.
