Georgia prosecutors have informed Rudy Giuliani’s legal team that they now view him as a target in their ongoing investigation into efforts by former President Donald Trump, aides and supporters to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

This comes just two days before Guiliani, who served as Trump's lawyer after the November 2020 election, was set to appear before the Fulton County special grand jury as a “material witness.”

"It's your responsibility if a false and fraudulent count is submitted to the United States government," Giuliani warned state lawmakers, FOX 5 Atlanta reports

According to the report, Giuliani testified before a Georgia State Senate Committee in late 2020 that election workers had committed fraud as they counted ballots inside the State Farm Arena. The allegations made by the former New York City Mayor were quickly debunked by the Secretary of State's Office.

Court filings reveal he was first subpoenaed by the special grand jury in July and was directed to appear before the New York Supreme Court on July 13, to address or challenge the court order as part of the process, FOX 5 reports. After Giuliani failed to show up for those proceedings, he was immediately scheduled to appear before the special grand jury in Fulton County on Aug. 9.

Giuliani's legal team petitioned a Fulton County Superior Court judge to push back his appearance or make other special arrangements because of a recent medical procedure that made it impossible for him to travel by air. Despite this, the judge suggested Giuliani make alternate travel arrangements and appear on Aug. 17.
