The biographer of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas said Thomas is an “independent thinker” who "the Left" wanted to stop "at all costs."

“The Left wanted to stop Clarence Thomas at all costs,” said Mark Paoletta, author of “Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words. “The left will destroy you. They don’t care about you as a person; they don’t care about your life."

“You saw them doing that with Clarence Thomas,” Paoletta said. “Thomas is this independent thinker and the black leadership wants to say ‘oh he’s a traitor.'”

Paoletta's remarks came on a recent episode of "The Jenny Beth Show" podcast. He told host Jenny Beth Martin that claims of corruption over Thomas vacationing with a family friend are “gaslighting by the Left.”

A “close friend” of Thomas, Paoletta is a partner at Schaerr Jaffe LLP, and a senior fellow at Center For Renewing America. He worked as a lawyer in the Trump Administration, as well as under President George H.W. Bush. He also is former Chief Counsel for Oversight and Investigations in the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Thomas has served as an associate justice on the Supreme Court since being nominated by President George H.W. Bush in 1991. He is the second African American to serve on the Court. A native of Pin Point, Georgia, Thomas attended the College of the Holy Cross and Yale Law School.

Prior to the Supreme Court, Thomas served on the US. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and worked as the chairman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Martin is the Honorary Chairman of Tea Party Patriots Action, which is headquartered in Cherokee Co., Ga. She was named one of 2010’s “Most Influential Leaders” by Time Magazine. She attended Reinhardt University in Wales, Ga., as well as the University of Georgia.
