576 illegal aliens were arrested in May 2024 for crimes, including murder, sex crimes against children, child human trafficking, and drug trafficking. Three of these offenders were apprehended in Georgia on charges including battery, hit and run, and vehicular homicide.

An analysis by Restoration News reported that the May arrest figures surpass April's total of 528 illegal aliens arrested.

Coosa Valley News reported that on May 2, Parvinder Singh of New York was arrested in Rome after he allegedly struck 34-year-old Letha Lamb's car while driving his tractor-trailer on the wrong side of Highway 53. Lamb was killed, and her 17-year-old stepdaughter who was in the passenger seat was treated for injuries. Singh was charged with felony homicide by vehicle, causing serious injury by vehicle as well as misdemeanor DUI commercial vehicle, reckless driving, driving on wrong side of road, open container and driving without headlights, and he was placed on an ICE detainer.

On May 4, Brandon Chavez Camacho was arrested in Hall County and charged with battery against family. He was placed on an immigration detainer.

Jasson Rodriguez-Arauz was arrested on May 18 in Hall County and charged with following too closely, hit and run, and driving without a license. He was placed on an immigration detainer.

The Laken Riley Act would require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to detain non-citizens who have been arrested for crimes like burglary, theft, and shoplifting. The bill passed through the House for consideration by the U.S. Senate. All five Democratic members of Georgia's House delegation, Reps. Sanford (D), Hank Johnson (D), Lucy McBath (D), David Scott (D), and Nikema Williams (D), voted against the bill.

Since President Biden took office, over 7.2 million illegal immigrants have entered the United States. According to a report from Fox News, this figure is larger than the population of 36 US States.
