State Representative Kim Schofield recently marked the city of Hapeville's new status as a Purple Heart City. This recognition honors those who have been injured or lost their lives while serving in the military.
"The city of Hapeville stands as a beacon of gratitude and reverence, joining a proud tradition as a Purple Heart City," said Rep. Schofield. "This designation is more than a symbol—it is a heartfelt tribute to the bravery, sacrifice and unwavering commitment of the men and women who have borne the weight of service to our nation. We honor their courage and the ideals of freedom and democracy they so valiantly defend. Let this moment remind us all to cherish and uplift our veterans and military personnel, whose sacrifices have made our communities and our country stronger. The Purple Heart City designation acknowledges cities that show dedication to recognizing the contributions of veterans and military personnel.
Hapeville's status was approved by Mayor Alan Hallman along with Councilmembers Brett Reichert, Mark Adams, Mike Rast, and Chloe Alexander.
The Purple Heart is an esteemed military award given to members of the United States Armed Forces who have been wounded or killed in action. It symbolizes recipients' courage and dedication through their sacrifices for their country.
