The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office announced on May 4 that three people were arrested following a disturbance at Veterans State Park. The incident took place on April 26, when deputies responded to reports of a large physical fight at the park.

The event is significant as it involved multiple individuals and required response from both local deputies and Department of Natural Resources officials working in the park and lake area. Such incidents raise concerns about public safety during gatherings at local recreational areas.

According to the sheriff’s office, law enforcement arrived as the crowd was dispersing. Officers collected information from witnesses and those involved, learning that a confrontation among several people had escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation, one person was reportedly struck in the face while another received minor injuries trying to intervene. Authorities also found that someone had retrieved a firearm from a vehicle during the incident, but no threats were made and no one had pointed the weapon at anyone.

Three individuals—Brandon Suggs, age 19 of Leesburg; Nathaniel Tobias, age 20 of Buford; and Caitlin Cowart, age 25 of Leesburg—were taken into custody and transported to Crisp County Jail. All three have been charged with disorderly conduct.

The sheriff’s office did not report any further injuries or ongoing threat related to this event.
