Traffic on State Route 74 in Peachtree City, Fayette County, will be interrupted later this month due to utility work. A contractor for Georgia Power is scheduled to remove power poles along both the northbound and southbound lanes of SR 74. This activity may also cause interruptions on State Route 54 at its intersection with SR 74, affecting both eastbound and westbound traffic.
The work is planned to take place from March 21 to March 22, and again from March 28 to March 29, weather permitting. The project covers approximately half a mile and involves reconstruction for a displaced left turn on SR 74 at SR 54.
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), “Dates may change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.”
GDOT oversees planning, construction, and maintenance of state and federal highways in Georgia. The department also supports local governments with road maintenance and is involved in bridge projects as well as public transit initiatives across the state.
“Georgia Department of Transportation plans, constructs and maintains Georgia’s state and federal highways.
