Traffic on Old Alabama Road and State Route 61 in Bartow County will shift to a temporary alignment at the new roundabout this Thursday, February 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). This change is part of the ongoing widening project for Old Alabama Road, which is expected to be completed by late 2026.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and use caution while traveling through the work zone. “Motorists should drive slowly through the work zone and watch for crews that might be working near or in the roadway,” GDOT stated.

The department also recommends drivers check real-time traffic conditions before heading out by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or using the Georgia 511 app. Maintenance and construction teams continue their essential work while following health guidelines related to COVID-19.
