A new traffic shift is set to take place on State Route 20 in Henry County as part of an ongoing widening project. The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) announced that the change will affect Willow Lane and Industrial Blvd., moving vehicles from the current lanes onto newly constructed ones.

The transition will include the opening of both northbound and southbound lanes, as well as turn lanes on each roadway. The shift is scheduled for Monday, September 15, between 9:00 pm and 5:00 am. Traffic signals will be adjusted to support the new traffic pattern.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and are urged to drive carefully through the work zones. “Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app,” according to guidance provided by the department.

Georgia DOT is responsible for planning, constructing, and maintaining state and federal highways across Georgia. The agency also supports bridge, waterway, public transit, rail, aviation, bicycle, and pedestrian programs throughout the state. With nearly 4,000 employees, Georgia DOT states its commitment to delivering a transportation system focused on innovation, safety, sustainability and mobility. “The Department’s vision is to boost Georgia’s competitiveness through leadership in transportation,” according to a statement from the department.
