The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced a temporary traffic shift on US 280/State Route 30 at the I-16 westbound roundabout, weather permitting. This change is part of the ongoing US 280 Widening Project. During this phase, traffic will be redirected into a single-lane configuration to allow construction work on the inside of the roundabout.

The project is a component of broader improvement efforts in Bryan County, which include road widening, new roundabouts, and additional infrastructure developments along I-16. The aim is to enhance access to new developments in the area.

Construction activities will involve flagging and pacing, with officers present to assist drivers. Nighttime closures are scheduled from Friday, June 20, through Saturday, June 21, between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Motorists should anticipate delays and are advised to exercise caution and reduce speed in work zones. For real-time updates on traffic conditions and work status, travelers can call 511 or visit 511ga.org. Additional project details are available online.

For inquiries about the project, contact Jill Nagel at Georgia DOT. The department assures that personal information collected will not be shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
