The University of Georgia announced on April 17 that twenty-four employees retired from the institution as of April 1, 2026.

The retirement of these long-serving staff members marks a significant transition for various departments across the university. Their combined years of service reflect decades of commitment to supporting students, faculty, and the broader campus community.

Among those retiring are Roger N. Brown, materials handler III in mail and receiving services with over sixteen years at UGA; Kimberly Burger, building services worker II with nearly twenty-six years; Sandra Kate Chambers, parking compliance monitor with almost twenty-five years; and Becky Curry, administrative associate II in the Terry College of Business with fourteen years. Other retirees include Eric Dellinger, director of records and Clery at the UGA Police Department after twenty-nine years; Vassilka Deltcheva from technology and data analytics in Career Center after more than twenty-four years; Cora Celise Elder from accounting after over twenty-four years; Philip A. Fitzpatrick from University Libraries after nearly twenty-nine years; Rebecca Kirkland from research development after more than fourteen years; Sheila W. Marchant from county extension services after nearly twenty-six years.

Additional retirees are Sandra Morgan (bus operator), Stephen Moss (utility locator II), Jennifer Nelson (public service assistant), Andrea Parris (executive director of development), Kevin Peeples (facilities manager at Griffin Campus), Karen Shannon-McBrayer (senior marketing/public relations professional), Christopher J. Smith (administrative manager for research support services), R. Jeffrey Stockton (painter with almost thirty-three years at UGA), Lori Tinnell (manager of laboratory services at University Health Center), Malik Watkins (public service associate at Carl Vinson Institute of Government) and Kenneth C. West (systems administrator associate). Also retiring are Robert Westerfeld who served as consumer horticulturist for nearly thirty-six years, Chenxin Cindy Zeng as application analyst principal for nineteen years, and Ruiqin Zhong as research professional IV in plant biology for almost three decades.

These retirements represent a substantial change within many areas including administration, public service outreach, facilities management, student affairs health center operations and academic support functions throughout UGA’s colleges.
