The University of Georgia Extension announced on May 22 that it will hold a hands-on class focused on safely preserving green beans using a pressure canner. The event is part of the Home Food Preservation Series in Ware County.

The class aims to teach participants proper techniques for canning green beans, an important skill for those interested in food safety and home food preservation. The university says the session will provide practical instruction to help attendees preserve their harvest effectively.

To participate, individuals are asked to register and pay by calling or visiting the office at 3225 Harris Road, Waycross, GA 31503. The registration fee for the workshop is $25. Those seeking more information or wishing to secure a spot can contact the office at 912-490-2456.

The University of Georgia highlights its commitment to accessibility and equal opportunity by stating, “University of Georgia is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Veteran, Disability Institution. If you need a reasonable accommodation or language access services, reach out using the contact information provided on this page, at least three weeks prior to the program date.”

This initiative reflects ongoing efforts by local extension offices to equip community members with essential skills related to food safety and self-sufficiency.
