The University of Georgia hosted its annual Staff Appreciation Celebration on May 19 at Stegeman Coliseum, recognizing the dedication and service of staff members from across the university.

The event was organized to thank staff for their essential role in supporting the university’s teaching, research, service, and outreach missions. President Jere W. Morehead welcomed attendees for an afternoon that included food, fellowship, and recognition.

During the celebration, Morehead said, “UGA’s staff are vital to the success of our university. Their dedication, professionalism and commitment to service strengthen our campus every day. I am grateful for all they do to support our students, faculty, alumni and one another, and it was a pleasure to celebrate their many contributions at this year’s Staff Appreciation Celebration.”

Staff enjoyed lunch from several local vendors along with music from a live DJ, photo booths, appearances by Hairy Dawg and Spike mascots, and received tokens of appreciation. The event also featured collaboration among university leaders, volunteers, campus partners and vendors.

Dr. Juanita W. Hicks said: “The Staff Appreciation Celebration is one meaningful way we can recognize the people who keep the University of Georgia moving forward every day. It was wonderful to see so many staff members come together and be celebrated for their hard work and commitment.”

University Human Resources extended appreciation not only to attending staff but also volunteers and partners who contributed to making the event possible.
