Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation will implement a nightly closure of US 280 on July 15 and 16. The closure is scheduled from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. each night to facilitate bridge construction in Lyons as part of the US 1 Bypass project.

The affected section of US 280, also known as State Route (SR) 30, stretches between Semco Drive and Ezra Taylor Road. A detour route will be clearly marked, directing traffic via H.D. Wright Road, Sixth Avenue, and Semco Drive.

Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution while navigating the work zone and adhere to posted speed limits on the detour route. Message boards have been installed to provide advance notification of these changes.

Weather permitting, this schedule will be maintained as planned. Safety measures such as message signs, barrels, and cones will be in place to alert drivers.
