AGCO announced on June 1 that its Valtra brand has completed the 1,000th continuously variable transmission (CVT) at its Suolahti, Finland, factory. The milestone comes about a year after the facility’s expansion was commissioned as part of a €38 million investment to increase high-technology manufacturing capabilities.

The expanded CVT facility is intended to support both Valtra and AGCO’s broader strategy of developing and producing key powertrain components near tractor assembly operations. In addition to use in Valtra tractors, the transmissions produced in Suolahti are also installed in select Fendt and Massey Ferguson models from AGCO.

Kullervo Mansikkala, Transmission Plant Manager at Valtra, said: “Series production began approximately one year ago. Reaching this 1,000th CVT milestone shows that the new Suolahti expansion has achieved its intended performance quickly, with quality, delivery reliability and efficiency fully aligned.”

Manufacturing CVTs at Suolahti reinforces Valtra’s commitment to Finnish production while increasing vertical integration and self-sufficiency for AGCO. Mansikkala concluded: “We have created a solid foundation that allows us to scale up and further develop transmission production in close cooperation with AGCO’s global manufacturing network.”

AGCO Corporation operates manufacturing facilities in countries including the United States, Brazil, Finland, France, Germany, China and Italy; supports community initiatives focused on nutrition and sustainable food systems; employs about 24,000 people worldwide; offers support for more than 10,000 equipment models through retrofit precision agriculture solutions; focuses on delivering sustainable agricultural solutions globally; and has received honors such as the Good Design Award for its Valtra series tractors, according to the official website.
