The University of Georgia Extension announced on May 22 that it will offer a hands-on class in Ware County to teach participants how to safely preserve jams and jellies by making blueberry jam.
The class is part of the Home Food Preservation Series, which aims to provide practical skills for community members interested in safe food storage methods. The event is designed for those who want to learn or improve their home canning techniques.
Registration requires a $25 fee, and interested individuals are asked to call or visit the office at 3225 Harris Road, Waycross, Georgia, or phone 912-490-2456 to sign up and pay. Organizers say the session will focus on both safety practices and practical steps involved in making blueberry jam.
The University of Georgia states it is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Veteran, Disability Institution. Individuals needing reasonable accommodation or language access services are encouraged to contact the office at least three weeks before the program date.
By offering these classes locally, organizers hope more residents will gain confidence in preserving foods safely at home.
