Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp has declared that college campuses in Georgia will not tolerate those promoting "terrorism and extremism", underlining the importance of student safety. He expressed gratitude for the law enforcement's response to Emory University's call for support.

"Across the country, Americans have watched with horror as radicals have terrorized Jewish students and forced them to evacuate from their dormitories and classrooms," said P. Kemp, according to X. "College campuses are designed to be places of learning and often civil discourse, but in Georgia, they will never be a safe haven for those who promote terrorism and extremism that threatens the safety of students. I am thankful for state and local law enforcement who responded swiftly to Emory University's call for support and restored order on campus. Just as we have always done in the past, we will respect the right to peacefully protest, but those who choose to make the unwise decision to use our college campuses to intimidate, make threats, promote violence, or in any other way break the law will be met with the full force of the law and brought to justice."

According to a press release by Emory University, several dozen protesters, some unaffiliated with the university, established a camp on the Atlanta campus Quad, disrupting students preparing for final exams. The Emory Police Department informed them they were trespassing; when they refused to leave, law enforcement cleared the area.

As reported by Reuters, students across various U.S. campuses have been staging protests, demanding a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, cessation of U.S. military aid to Israel, and university divestment from companies profiting from the conflict.

Kemp took office as Georgia's 83rd governor in 2019. During his tenure, the state witnessed economic growth through job creation and investment. As reported by Georgia.gov, he was re-elected in 2022 primarily based on his administration's economic record and promises to address inflation, enhance public safety, and improve education through legislative efforts.
