City of Gainesville issued the following announcement on August 31.
Forrest Avenue between Green and Bradford streets is now closed pending repair of a sinkhole, confirmed the Gainesville Department of Water Resources.
Motorists should plan for traffic detours as the road will remain shut down until further notice.
Those navigating the area are urged to drive carefully, and watch for construction workers and equipment during this time.
