The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced temporary lane closures on the I-285/I-20 West Interchange, contingent on weather conditions. Georgia DOT, alongside construction partners, will undertake geotechnical boring to support the interchange project's design.
The reconstruction project includes widening several interstate ramps and adding a mix of collector-distributor lanes, connecting lanes, and auxiliary lanes along I-20 west and I-285 north of the interchange.
The lane closures will occur from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, from Tuesday, April 1 through Friday, April 4. The affected locations include a single, right-lane, and right-shoulder closure on I-285 northbound from State Route 139/Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to the Collier Drive underpass.
Georgia DOT advises motorists to anticipate delays, proceed with caution, and reduce speed through the work areas. Drivers are encouraged to stay alert and watch for workers. Real-time updates on traffic and work status are available by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or using the Georgia 511 app.
