The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced potential traffic impacts due to ongoing construction related to the 16@95 Improvement Projects. Weather permitting, GDOT's construction partners will close interstate lanes and ramps at specific locations to facilitate the widening of I-16 and the reconstruction of the I-16/I-95 interchange. These lane closures are required for operations involving the widening of I-16, as well as bridge work on I-95 and at the I-16/I-516 interchange. From March 31 to April 5, both daytime and nighttime closures are scheduled across various stretches of I-16 and I-516, with intermittent closures on both the right and left lanes. Additionally, traffic will be redirected as per designated detour routes during these times. Some significant long-term closures will affect operations. Tremont Road under I-16 will remain closed from June 26, 2022, to May 31, 2025. Motorists traveling north of I-16 should take alternative routes involving Telfair Road and West Gwinnett Street, while those south of I-16 are directed to use I-516 westbound.

Further planned closures are announced for April 7 through April 19, also inclusive of nightly and daily intermittent lane closures. Detour plans during these periods have been well-coordinated to minimize traffic disruptions. GDOT assures that "No more than one ramp in the I-95/I-16 Interchange or the I-16/I-516 Interchange will be closed at a time."
