City of Milton issued the following announcement.
Thousands will descend on Milton's downtown in just over one week for Crabapple Fest -- a beloved, popular event featuring over 100 vendors and entertainment for young and old.
The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 2. Past editions have brought more than 30,000 people to Crabapple Road in the heart of Milton's downtown.
Those coming this year can choose from a wide selection of handmade arts, crafts, antiques and jewelry. People can also savor drinks and food cooked up by local establishments under tents, out of food trucks and from nearby restaurants.
Crabapple Fest is the definition of family-friendly. To that point, children can not only shop but also take home horseshoe-themed crafts (thanks to the Milton Equestrian Committee), soak up oversized bubbles, and make magic with sand art. Kids can also hop on a large, carnival-esque swing ride or meet rescue animals from the non-profit AWARE Wildlife Center.
Adults won't be left out of the fun. They can watch college football, including University of Georgia's noon game against Arkansas on a 12-foot LED-display screen compliments of Crabapple Market.
A band will perform between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. outside Crabapple Family Dentistry (near where Crabapple Road hits Marstrow Road), while a bluegrass music group will circulate around the festival route entertaining all day long.

Road closure and parking info
Starting at noon on Friday, Oct. 1, Crabapple Road will be closed to vehicular traffic from its intersection with Heritage Walk (to the south) to where it meets Birmingham Highway/Broadwell Road (further north). It should reopen by approximately 10 p.m. Saturday. Part of Lecoma Trace will be closed as well.
Visitors should not park on neighborhood streets. But they can use free parking options near the event, specifically at:
- Crabapple First Baptist Church
- Milton High School
- Crabapple Crossing Elementary School
- Northwestern Middle School
Handicap parking will be available at the Alpharetta Government Center building across from Broadwell Pavilion.
