On December 20, Sen. Chuck Payne, along with Gov. Brian Kemp and other state leaders, visited the southern border in Texas. The purpose of the visit was to meet with Georgia National Guard troops deployed there and to thank them for their service during the holiday season.

The delegation included Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, Speaker of the House Jon Burns, Rep. Chas Cannon, and House Veterans Committee Chairman Josh Bonner, who is also serving in the Georgia National Guard and currently stationed in Texas.

Sen. Payne expressed his appreciation for the troops' dedication: “It was a truly special experience to meet with the men and women who dedicate their lives to safeguarding our freedoms." He acknowledged the challenges faced by service members during holidays away from home due to his own Army experience: "Their willingness to be away from home during Christmas is a testament to their dedication to the 336 million Americans whose freedoms they protect.”

He further added gratitude towards Gov. Kemp for inviting him on this trip: “It was an honor to spend time with each service member, hear their stories and thank them for their selflessness."
