The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced the opening of a new Displaced Left Turn (DLT) intersection on North Druid Hills Road at I-85. The intersection is set to open on Saturday morning, as part of ongoing improvements in DeKalb County.

Motorists should be aware of lane closures and detours in the area. For those traveling on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound to I-85 southbound, the recommended route is via I-85 northbound Frontage Road and Clairmont Road. Similarly, westbound travelers are advised to use the same detour. Those traveling from Corporate Drive to I-85 southbound should follow a designated route involving several local roads.

Additionally, drivers heading from I-85 southbound to SR 42/North Druid Hills Road will need to continue on I-85 southbound before using Lenox Road (Exit 88) and returning northbound.

The new DLT bridge structure is part of a larger initiative known as the Interchange Improvements Project (P.I. 0016054). This project also includes constructing a braided ramp connecting the I-85 northbound off-ramp with an access road in DeKalb County. Completion is expected by late 2025.

GDOT emphasizes its commitment to providing a safe transportation system that supports Georgia’s economy while being sensitive to its citizens and environment. Motorists are urged to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce speed through work zones. Real-time updates can be accessed via GDOT's social media channels or by calling 511.

For further details about GDOT and their projects, visit their official website or follow them on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
