Georgia DOT announces temporary lane closures on I-85 near North Druid Hills

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced upcoming lane closures on Interstate 85 at State Route 42/North Druid Hills Road, pending favorable weather conditions. The construction activities will affect traffic from March 17 to March 23, 2025.

Daytime closures are scheduled from Monday, March 17, to Friday, March 21, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. One right lane on the I-85 northbound Frontage Road will be closed from SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to Cliff Valley Way.

Overnight closures are planned for the same days from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. These include one right turn lane on the I-85 northbound Frontage Road from SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to Tullie Circle, two right lanes on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road westbound from Briarcliff Road to I-85 starting at 9 p.m., pacing at the intersection of SR 42/North Druid Hills Road and I-85 northbound, and one left lane on the I-85 northbound off-ramp to SR 42 eastbound ending Wednesday.

Additional closures include:

- On Tuesday, March 18, from 8 p.m. to Wednesday, March 19, at 6 a.m., one right lane on I-85 southbound at SR 42/North Druid Hills Road.

From Friday, March 21, through Sunday, March 23, between the hours of 8 p.m. and 11 a.m., there will be two left lanes closed on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road westbound at I-85 and one right lane closure on I-85 southbound at SR 42/North Druid Hills Road (Friday night only). Pacing is also expected on West Druid Hills Road to North Druid Hills Road during this time.

Motorists should follow detour routes provided by GDOT for these closures. They are advised to expect delays and exercise caution in work zones while reducing speed. Real-time updates can be accessed by calling "511," visiting "511ga.org," or using the Georgia "511" app.
