Star University of Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett will return to the title-winning football team for a final season, and JT Daniels, the man he replaced as starter, has decided to transfer.
"One more year," walk-on-turned-starter Bennett said on Instagram Jan. 19. "Let's roll."
Bennett has had an up-and-down career at Georgia. He transferred to Jones College in Mississippi after the 2017 season, then he returned to Georgia only to be replaced by Daniels by the seventh game of the 2020 season. Though he fell well down the depth chart, Bennett opted to remain at Georgia.
His decision panned out. He led his team to an 11-1 record as a starter and threw a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown passes as Georgia beat Alabama 33-18 in the national title game.
The next day he said on “Good Morning America” that he would like to go to law school.one day but for the next year would focus on football. At that point he wasn't sure where he'd be playing, Once again, he decided to stay.
"I love this place," he said . "I love this team. I believe in myself and I love everything about this place."
Given Daniels' pending departure, the Bulldogs have signed QB Brock Vandagriff, ESPN's 37th-ranked 2021 recruit.
