Former Georgia quarterback Mike Bobo is coming home.

Bobo, who played for the Bulldogs from 1994-97 and held coaching positions for 14 seasons, returns to Georgia to become an Offensive Analyst, head coach Kirby Smart announced.

The homecoming was announced on the Twitter account of the national champions. “Welcome Back Home @CoachMikeBobo‼”

Bobo returns to Georgia after serving as the offensive coordinator at Auburn last season. In 2020, he was South Carolina's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, having served the previous five years as the head coach at Colorado State. Bobo led the Rams during his first three seasons at Colorado State, but Georgia is where his heart is.

As a Bulldog quarterback, Bobo threw for 6,334 yards, the seventh-most all-time by a Georgia quarterback, and set several Georgia passing records.

After his playing career ended, Bobo became an administrative assistant in 1998 and then a graduate assistant in 1999. He became a full-time assistant coach in 2001 under Mark Richt before becoming the offensive coordinator in 2008.  He remained in that role until being named the head coach at Colorado State after the 2014 season.

The Bulldogs beat Alabama 33-18 last month to win the College Football National Championship Game. It was Georgia's first national championship since 1980.
