Senator Nan Orrock and Representative Anne Allen Westbrook are set to announce new legislation aimed at prohibiting state funding for anti-abortion centers in Georgia. The announcement is scheduled for February 19, 2025, at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta. Members of the Amplify Georgia Collaborative will join them to discuss the impact of these centers and the objectives of the proposed legislation.

The event will take place on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. on the South Steps of the Georgia State Capitol. The public is invited to attend.

Media representatives are encouraged to confirm their attendance by contacting Jantz Womack via email at SenatePressInquiries@senate.ga.gov.

Senator Orrock emphasized the importance of providing accurate healthcare information to Georgians. "Georgians have a right to understand the full range of pregnancy options and to receive reliable medical information free of political bias," she stated. She criticized anti-abortion clinics for disseminating misleading health information and failing to comply with medical guidelines. "Georgia continues to have one of the highest maternal mortality rates of any state," she noted, advocating for investments in healthy pregnancies and babies instead.

Senator Orrock serves as the Democratic Caucus Secretary and represents the 36th Senate District, which includes parts of Fulton County. She can be contacted at 404.463.8054 or nan.orrock@senate.ga.gov for further inquiries.
