Governor Brian P. Kemp has announced the appointment of Mason Rountree to the Paulding County State Court and Melissa Poole as the Solicitor General of Long County.
Mason B. Rountree, a native of Georgia, is a founding partner of Rountree Law Firm in Paulding County. His practice focused on non-domestic civil litigation, misdemeanor criminal defense, and small business law. He holds a business degree in economics from the University of Georgia and a J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law. During his time in law school, he interned for Georgia Supreme Court Justices George Carley and Hugh Thompson. After graduating, he served as a law clerk in the Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit for Superior Court Judges Arthur Fudger, William A. Foster III, and Marion Cummings. In 1996, Rountree joined Brock, Clay, Wilson & Rogers in Cobb County as a civil litigation associate before establishing his own firm in 1999. He also served part-time as Judge of the City of Dallas.
Melissa Poole currently works as an assistant district attorney for the Atlantic Judicial Circuit and serves as a solicitor for Richmond Hill City. She earned her bachelor's degree in international studies from Mount Vernon College and her J.D. from Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law. Following graduation, she was a law clerk in the Oconee Judicial Circuit before joining King & Spalding and later moving to the District Attorney's Office in 2001. Poole is also experienced as a certified mediator within the Atlantic Judicial Circuit.
Both appointees bring extensive legal experience to their new roles.
